The Eaton 5P850IR is an 850 VA / 600 W line-interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) designed to deliver reliable protection for essential IT and network equipment. Engineered in a 1U rack form factor, this model is ideal for server racks, communications closets, and network cabinets where space is limited but dependable power continuity is required.

Power Performance & Voltage Regulation

Built around line-interactive topology, the 5P850IR stabilises incoming mains power using Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltages and overvoltages without drawing on battery power unnecessarily, helping extend battery life. The UPS delivers a pure sine-wave output and supports a wide input voltage range adjustable between 150 V and 294 V. Its nominal output is 230 V (configurable to other regional voltages), ensuring compatibility with a variety of connected loads. With a 0.7 output power factor, this UPS provides 600 W of usable power and is sized to support network devices, entry-level servers, switches, routers, storage arrays, and other critical systems.

Battery System & Backup Capability

The Eaton 5P850IR includes two user-replaceable sealed lead-acid batteries (12 V/7 Ah) managed via Advanced Battery Management (ABM) and automatic testing to optimise battery longevity. Hot-swappable battery design allows maintenance or replacement without powering down connected equipment—a key feature for environments where uptime is necessary.

Typical backup times at around 50 % load are approximately 12 minutes, giving users sufficient time to save work and perform orderly shutdowns during power interruptions.

Design, Compliance & Operational Characteristics

Designed for rack-mount deployment in a standard 19-inch cabinet, the unit includes a rack-mounting kit, cable locking system, and essential cabling in the package. Its noise level is rated at < 40 dB at 1 m and it is compliant with international safety and EMC standards including IEC/EN 62040-1, IEC/EN 62040-2, UL 1778, and carries CE, EAC, and cTUVus certifications.

Other notable features include remote reboot support and runtime optimisation via manageable outlet groups, energy-efficient operation to reduce cooling and electrical costs, and compatibility with virtualised environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
