Eaton 9SX1500IR Online UPS

The Eaton 9SX1500IR is an online double‑conversion uninterruptible power supply (UPS) engineered to provide continuous, high‑quality power protection for mission‑critical IT infrastructure. Rated at 1500 VA / 1350 W, it continuously conditions and regenerates its output, isolating sensitive electronics from mains fluctuations, including surges, sags, brownouts, and frequency variances. Its 2U rack form factor supports standard 19‑inch rack installations, making it suitable for server rooms, network closets, and edge data deployments.

Electrical Performance and Output Characteristics

Designed with an online/double‑conversion topology, this UPS delivers a pure sine wave output with a 0.9 output power factor, ensuring stable voltage and frequency for connected loads up to 1350 W. It includes (6) IEC C13 output receptacles to support multiple devices simultaneously and can operate with nominal output voltage settings from 200 V to 240 V. The UPS maintains low total harmonic distortion under linear loads and supports a broad input voltage range of 190–276 V without derating, enhancing its tolerance to unstable mains conditions.

Battery System and Runtime Management

The Eaton 9SX1500IR incorporates four sealed, maintenance‑free lead‑acid batteries (12 V / 9 Ah) with hot‑swappable internal battery modules. Intelligent charging and management functions such as Advanced Battery Management (ABM) with temperature‑compensated charging, automatic battery tests, and deep discharge protection improve service life and reliability. The unit also supports extended battery modules (EBMs) to increase runtime for longer outages or higher priority loads.

Communications and Management Interfaces

For monitoring and integration, the UPS features a multilingual graphical LCD display that provides real‑time status, load levels, and diagnostics. Communication ports include USB (HID‑compliant) and RS‑232 serial interfaces, along with mini‑terminal blocks for remote power off and output relay signalling. Two dry contact outputs and a dry contact input facilitate connection to external monitoring systems, while one expansion slot allows optional network or relay cards for remote management and integration with Eaton’s Intelligent Power software suite.

Physically, the 9SX1500IR measures 438 × 438 × 86.5 mm (depth × width × height) and weighs approximately 18.4 kg, making it suitable for rack installations in constrained spaces. It operates reliably in ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 40 °C with humidity tolerance up to 95 % non‑condensing and is rated for altitudes up to 3000 m.
